About

Building a home for India’s editors

A national organisation dedicated to advancing the art, craft, recognition, and future of screen editing.

The Society of Indian Screen Editors exists to elevate the art, identity, and global standing of Indian screen editors. SISE is not a union, guild, or regulatory body. It is an independent collective — a space for dialogue, mentorship, scholarship, and professional solidarity.

Society of Indian Screen Editors

Our mission

Elevate the art. Strengthen the craft. Give editors a national stage.

United by the cut · Defined by the craft

Founded by editors for editors — a lasting institution for excellence, collaboration, heritage, education, and a collective voice across India.

Our story

  1. Early Regional Efforts

Various regional editor groups and associations were envisioned across different parts of India. While these efforts reflected a genuine need for representation, most were unable to sustain long-term national engagement.

  2. National Vision 2019

A nationwide organisation for Indian screen editors was formally conceptualised. Editors from different regions began discussing the need for a unified body capable of representing Indian editors both nationally and internationally.

  3. Industry Dialogues 2020–2025

The conversation continued across regions and industries while the editor’s role was still treated as technical rather than authorial. Prestige and dignity stayed overdue — and the craft still needed a lasting home.

  4. Formation of SISE 2026

The Society of Indian Screen Editors was established through the collective efforts of editors committed to building a professional, inclusive, and enduring organisation.

The principles

How we stand

Glorify the art

Editing is the language of cinema. Champion it as a central creative force, beyond the mechanics of the cut.

Collaboration over authority

We exist to connect, not control. Shared knowledge over gatekeeping.

The invitation

Across film, streaming, documentary, and emerging media, editors can no longer remain invisible.

Excellence & growth

Workshops, masterclasses, screenings, and global practice. Not just competence — creative excellence.

Global presence

Indian editors deserve a stronger international voice. SISE is set to become the first Indian editors’ association to join TEMPO; the professional suffix SISE is a mark of standing.

Community & mentorship

Belonging across languages, industries, and regions. Fair acknowledgement from assistants to senior editors. Diversity of expression, unity of craft.

Share your ideas. Join the dialogue. Contribute to the movement. Together, let us secure editing’s rightful place at the centre of cinematic culture.
