Early Regional Efforts

Various regional editor groups and associations were envisioned across different parts of India. While these efforts reflected a genuine need for representation, most were unable to sustain long-term national engagement.

Foundation and Governance

The Society of Indian Screen Editors Foundation (SISE Foundation) is a non-profit, non-government organization established in accordance with the laws of India.

The Foundation exists to advance the art, craft, education, recognition, preservation, and professional development of screen editing and editors.

SISE Foundation is governed by its Memorandum of Association and applicable Indian laws, and is administered by a duly elected management body supported by dedicated committees and volunteers working toward the objectives of the organization.

The Foundation operates with a commitment to transparency, professionalism, collaboration, and service to the editorial community.

Founded by editors for editors, the organization works to foster professional excellence, encourage collaboration, preserve editorial heritage, promote education and research, and strengthen the collective voice of screen editors across the country.

SISE Foundation is a non-profit, non-government organization established in accordance with the Indian law and governed by its Memorandum of Association, elected leadership, and committees working in the interests of the screen editing community.

The Society of Indian Screen Editors (SISE) exists to elevate the art, identity, and global standing of Indian screen editors. SISE is not a union, guild, or regulatory body. It is an independent collective dedicated to strengthening editing culture through dialogue, mentorship, scholarship, and professional solidarity — a space where editors can engage with evolving cinematic language, exchange ideas across generations and regions, and assert editing as a defining creative force in cinema.

THE GAP

SISE is set to become the first Indian editors' association to join TEMPO, the global federation of editing associations. For the first time, Indian editors will carry the professional suffix "SISE" a mark of standing long associated internationally with distinguished craft communities in editing, cinematography, and sound.
