SOCIETY OF INDIAN SCREEN EDITORS FOUNDATION
Building a Home for India's Editors
A national organization dedicated to advancing the art, craft, recognition, and future of screen editing.
OUR STORY
Early Regional Efforts
Various regional editor groups and associations were envisioned across different parts of India. While these efforts reflected a genuine need for representation, most were unable to sustain long-term national engagement.
THE GAP
National Vision 2019
A nationwide organization for Indian screen editors was formally conceptualized. Editors from different regions began discussing the need for a unified body capable of representing Indian editors both nationally and internationally.
"The essence of cinema is editing.” — yet it remains one of Indian cinema’s least understood crafts. The editor’s role is still seen as technical rather than authorial. 'Prestige and Dignity' is long overdue. That gap must be addressed.
Industry Dialogues 2020-2025

Become Part of India's Editorial Community
The Society of Indian Screen Editors (SISE) exists to elevate the art, identity, and global standing of Indian screen editors. SISE is not a union, guild, or regulatory body. It is an independent collective dedicated to strengthening editing culture through dialogue, mentorship, scholarship, and professional solidarity — a space where editors can engage with evolving cinematic language, exchange ideas across generations and regions, and assert editing as a defining creative force in cinema.
THE GAP
SISE is set to become the first Indian editors' association to join TEMPO, the global federation of editing associations. For the first time, Indian editors will carry the professional suffix "SISE" a mark of standing long associated internationally with distinguished craft communities in editing, cinematography, and sound.
GLORIFY THE ART
THE PRINCIPLES
Editing is the language of cinema". SISE will champion it as a central creative force, deepening industry and public understanding beyond the mechanics of the cut.
COLLABORATION OVER AUTHORITY
We exist to connect, not control. Shared knowledge and mutual respect over gatekeeping and hierarchy.
THE INVITATION
Across film, streaming, documentary, and emerging media, the language of storytelling is evolving rapidly. Multiple-camera shoots have proven that, "editing is truly the script of the film". Editors can no longer remain invisible in that conversation
We invite Indian screen editors to help shape this platform.
EXCELLENCE & GROWTH
Cinema evolves constantly; editors must evolve with it. Through workshops, masterclasses, screenings, and engagement with global practice, SISE will pursue not just competence but creative excellence.
GLOBAL PRESENCE
Indian editors deserve a stronger international voice. SISE will actively pursue participation in global festivals, conferences, and forums - contributing to, not just consuming, the world conversation on editing.
COMMUNITY & MENTORSHIP
A healthy craft culture depends on generational continuity. SISE will build belonging across languages, industries, and regions, while advocating fair acknowledgement for everyone from assistants to senior editors.
DIVERSITY IN VOICES, UNITY IN PURPOSE
Editors from every region, language, genre, and medium bring unique strengths. SISE celebrates diversity of expression while standing united for the craft we share.
Share your ideas. Join the dialogue. Contribute to the movement.
Together, let us secure editing's rightful place at the center of cinematic culture.
Whether you are an established professional or an emerging editor, SISE welcomes those committed to advancing the craft.
